The Quarterly Meeting was held on Saturday
January 24th 2015 at FRENIERE LANDING, LaPlace, LA. where we’ve met
three other times. It was a great weather day, clear, sunny, mild and
with a terffic view of Lake Pontchartrain. The meeting opened at 1130
hours with a Pledge of Allegiance and the invocation by Chaplain WILLIE
STEVENS. As usual a short business meeting was held including; approving
the minutes of previous meeting, treasurer’s report, and our Mardi Gras
program (see below).
Guest Speaker was Burleigh
Soape, Sr, Commander of DISABLED AMERICAN VETERANS, Chapter 50 Florida
Parishes, Hammond, LA. He spoke about their programs to assist local
disabled veterans. He also related a few stories of individuals
receiving secial assistance.
BOB MOREAU reported
on our Annual Program HELP HOST A HERO FOR MARDI GRAS 2015 where we have
twenty Combat Veterans of the middle east conflicts ride in the parade.

donations are going well with most prior years contributers renewing,
new donors contacted with some donating. We’re also spreading our
program via facebook & twitter. See facebook page SPECIAL FORCES
ASSOCIATION CHAPTER 30, with its posting being Shared by some Chapter
XXX Members, thereby increasing our exposure.
CAVAIANI was laid to rest on November 5th 2014 and is deeply missed by
Members, several who knew him well. Chapter members at
Arlington were TED ELLISON & LLOYD STOUT. JON was our Guest of Honor
from 2008 to 2013 for six days each year, riding in our MARDI GRAS
PARADE and attending other related functions. On our Mardi Gras Brochure
we included A SPECIAL TRIBUTE to JON, see photo this article, also see
the brochure on our website.
It’s with great
sadness we acknowledge the passing of member B.ETHEL E. GAINEY on
December 14, 2014. ED was one of the original Chapter members who
attended virtually every meeting and frequently attended the SFA
An update was given on member
HENRY J. COOK III who had a complete liver transplant in October 2013
and has been in the hospital virtually ever since. He is currently in
Franklin Memorial Bed Unit, 40 Union Church Road, Meadville, MS 31653
where his doctors feel the treatment here will improve his condition.
