CHAPTER XXX regrets to announce the recent combat loss of SFC Severin W. Summers III, 2/20 SFG, son of long-time Chapter member LtCol (Ret) West Summers. SFC Summers was KIA on August 2nd, 2009 by an IED in Afghanistan along with two other American Soldiers. One of his brothers also serving in the mid-east escorted the remains to Dover AFB. The father West, mother Charlene, and widow Tammy were supported by a Chapter XXX member as well as the Cdr and CSM of the 20th SFG who briefed and consoled the family. Upon the Summers family return to Baton Rouge Airport a number of Chapter XXX members and wives turned out in support and offered their sincere condolences. The Chapter mourns with the family and offers its deepest sympathy and prayers for their great loss. The Summers family truly represents the epitome of patriotism and devotion to duty, honor and country. They also exemplify the Special Forces legacy and tradition at the highest level and are deserving of appropriate recognition.
