      The meeting began 1130 member Cris Mandryís Boathouse in the New Orleans Marina. As usual several members started arriving about 1030 hrs.= Jim & Mitzi setting up the flags, Tom with the beer etc. while some guys set up the tables and chairs. We began with the pledge of Allegiance, then an invocation with a moment of silence for fallen brothers. Jack Cahall D3162L passed away Jan 2nd, 2017 Bob Moreau was a close friend and spoke about him, how in summer training 1962 in Oklahoma SSG Jack was one of the team NCOs in 2LT Moreauís A-Team. Paul Palermo D2706 passed away insigniaJan 5th 2017. Richard Kuntz recalled that Paul was one of the early (1980s) Chapter 30 members and a fine officer who was well respected. Many of the members didnít know Paul as he was not active in the chapter for many years
    Usual business items followed; approval of last meetings minutes, also the treasurerís report. Mardi Gras program is going well, most major donors have renewed and two others are forthcoming, also a new one has donated while the many individual contributions are being received. Lloyd & Manny are again recruiting our Honorees. The Mardi Gras Ball was on Friday 3rd of February with a table full of soldiers and a couple spouses, they all had a great evening. MARDI GRAS is Tuesday 28FEB2017.
    Bob Romero presented a raffle on a bottle of Jack Daniels Whiskey WITH Special Forces insignia imprinted on the bottle. This is done by Chapter 81 SFA in Lafayette, LA. and the profit will be shared with Chapter 30, like we did last year. A number of ticket were sold
    Guest Speaker was Jason , a LT in the local Jefferson Parish Sheriffís Office. He is also an officer in the BLUE KNIGHTS LA II Law Enforcement Motor Cycle Club with many veterans in their membership. This organization is one of the major sponsors of our Mardi Gras effort. He spoke about some of his experiences in law enforcement, how the police feel about and react to those people who break the law, also on their effort on community relations. Several members asked questions to which he aptly responded.
    Today was also a mini reunion for some former members of the LA NG SF Unit (July 1959 to May 1972), Co D 20th SFGA. Some of these guys hadnít seen each other for many years, five never joined or stayed in the chapter. All Co D were: Jim Anthony, Pert Guidry, Richard Kuntz, Tony Levata, Bob Moreau, John Persson, Ralph Peterson, Joe Ridolfo, Bob Romero, Frank Rosato, Lawrence Sintes, Bob Smith, Andy Yuratich.
    The other members and guests were; Manny Acosta, Mitzi Anthony, Frank Brumley, Tom Fierke, Mike Hatchett, Hy McEnery, Geary Mason, Judi Moreau, Janet Peterson, Lloyd Stout, Dave Thibodeaux & Becky Bright, Jeannie McIntosh & Stevie Mann. Last but not least Jason Hippler.
