TheThe Chapter XXX annual program HOST A HERO
FOR MARDI GRAS 2015 was conducted in February 2015. We raise the money
to sponsor approximately twenty Combat Veterans (mostly from Iraq &
Afghanistan). Check the Mardi Gras Link on our website www.sfa30.org.
FIRST some of the HONOREES attended the KREWE OF ARGUS GALAXY BALL (13
Feb) a formal affair with plenty of food, drinks, music and pageantry.
SECOND on Monday (16 Feb) they helped load & unpack the cases of throws
onto the float while the Krewe prepared a large BBQ (assisted by Chapter
Member LLOYD STOUT). THIRD is MARDI GRAS DAY, Tuesday 17 Feb they meet
with the KREWE at 0730 for breakfast and get on the floats around 0900,
the parade rolls at 1000 along Veterans Memorial Blvd in Metairie, LA,
ending about four hours later. This is a unique event for the HONOREES
as they experience the enthusiastic and patriotic reaction of the
spectators (approximately One Million people).
Memorial Service was held on 21 March for our brother HENRY J. COOK III.
In attendance were many comrades from Chapter XXX, SFA, SOA, VFW and
2/20th SFGA and others. Included were many local Vietnamese People

is a former Combat Unit Commander Officer of Republic of VN and
President of VN Military Academy Assn in LA. Henry was involved in
Veterans & Military related events along the Mississippi Gulf Coast and
Louisiana as well as having close contact with the local Vietnamese
people. Two Color Guards were present, one from the 2/20 SF and one from
the local Vietnamese, HUYNH gave some heartfelt remembrances of HENRY
