We had three activities since the last issue of
FIRST was on October 3rd, 2015 at Cris
Mandry’s Boathouse to welcome and meet some 7th SF Group members in the
area on an FTX. It was really great to meet and talk with these guys
about their exercise as well as them getting to know just what Chapter
XXX is about and who we are. We provided some fried chicken and side
dishes that was enjoyed by all. There were four 7th SF guys present
along with fifteen Chapter members. (See group photo).
SECOND on Saturday October 24th our Quarterly Meeting was held at the
Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Training Facility and Firing Range in
Walker, LA. (The site was arranged by Lloyd Stout). Members were allowed
to bring their personal weapons and ammo to fire on the range. All the
Sheriff’s pertinent rules and safety procedures were followed and
supervised by deputies Jeff Beatty and Clint Gray. Two great guys we got
to know. (See photo) The business part or the meeting included. Election
of Chapter Officers for 2016-2017, Teller’s Committee Chairman Jim
McCurry discussed the procedure as per the Chapter By-Laws, asked for
any nominations from the floor then announced the candidates. Members
present filled out their ballot, and for those not present ballots will
be sent to them. Treasurer’s report and update on status of our Mardi
Gras program were given. Annual Members reminded its renewal time (email
and applications already sent out). An email was sent on the usual Free
Meals for Veterans Day at various local restaurants. The meal was
catered by a local VOODOO BBQ & GRILL that everyone enjoyed. Members
